Composting Workshop
A hands-on, soil-loving afternoon exploring the principles of composting and discovering different methods you can use at home. We’ll take you on a tour of the composting systems here at the SLC, including our on-site worm farm, three-bin system, council bins, bokashi buckets, and the community compost.
You’ll learn how each method works, the pros and cons, and tips for getting the best results.
Whether you’re new to composting or looking to expand your skills, this session will give you the know-how and inspiration to turn food scraps into garden gold.

Spring Green Foraging Workshop
Discover the wild food growing right under your feet. Join us for a guided walk through the gardens at the SLC and beyond, where we’ll identify common edible weeds and explore their health benefits. Spring is a powerful time for these plants—many act as natural cleansers and tonics, supporting our bodies after the winter months. You’ll learn how to recognise, harvest, and use these herbs safely, along with tips for incorporating them into your meals or herbal remedies.
Come prepared for gentle walking, curiosity, and a fresh look at the “weeds” you might never see the same way again.

Syntropic Agroforestry Workshop
Learn the principles behind syntropic agroforestry—a regenerative growing method that works with natural succession to create abundant, resilient food systems. This workshop combines theory with hands-on practice as we maintain and develop the syntropic system here at the SLC.
You’ll gain an understanding of how syntropics mimic natural forest growth, support soil health, and increase biodiversity, and you’ll have the chance to put these ideas into action right here on site. Perfect for gardeners, growers, and anyone curious about future-friendly farming.

Planning Your Summer Garden Workshop
Settle in with a cup of tea and join Sol for an afternoon of practical gardening wisdom. You’ll learn how to use succession planting and adjusted planting times to get the most from your garden spaces year-round.
The first part of the session (1.5 hours) will cover the theory—how to plan, rotate, and stagger crops for continual harvests. In the second half, you’ll take part in a hands-on workshop where you can trial ideas, sketch out your own planting plans, and get direct feedback from Sol.
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned grower, you’ll leave with tools and inspiration to make your garden more productive and resilient.

Build A Solar Shower/Cooker Workshop
A hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to harness the power of the sun to create simple, practical tools for everyday living. Together, we’ll explore the principles of solar energy and guide you through making your own solar shower and solar cooker.
You’ll leave with practical skills, an understanding of how solar heating works, and the confidence to build your own low-cost, renewable energy solutions at home.
